New metering contract awarded to Teknoser Group in February
01.03.2010

Teknoser Group has decided to diversify its field operations and services business segment by adding new business lines into its portfolio. In line with this strategic decision, the Group has evaluated a number of new services businesses and decided to grow in metering.

Teknoser Group has been awarded as the exclusive field services provider for metering on behalf of Sedas, the electricity distribution company overseeing Sakarya and Kocaeli with 1.3 million subscribers as of 2008. Sedas, as one of the 21 electricity distribution companies owned by the government, was privatized by the Turkish Government in 2008 for a consideration of US$ 600 million to AkCEZ, a joint venture between Akkok Group and CEZ Group of Czech Republic. So far 3 distribution companies have been privatized including Sedas and the tenders are on-going for the rest.

Sedas also covers the town of Gebze, located in Kocaeli, which is the main manufacturing hub of the Marmara region, northwest Turkey. Gebze has a number of organized industrial zones and major manufacturing powerhouses in chemicals and other markets. 15 of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry 500 companies are actually located in Gebze.

Due to the significant exposure to the developed industrial clientele, Sedas has one of the lowest theft/loss ratios in the country with 6.3% as of 2008. Sedas has sold 9,349 GWh of power in the same year as well.
